Welcome to My Neurodivergent Child

Empowering gifted and neurodivergent families.

What is My Neurodivergent Child?

My Neurodivergent Child is an online learning management system connecting and providing support to gifted and neurodivergent families.

My Neurodivergent Child was created by Dr. Kate Aster: the founder and clinical director of 'Alchemy Therapy', a therapy clinic specialising in giftedness, neurodivergence, and trauma. The number of practitioners specialising in giftedness and neurodivergence is not enough to meet the demand for support, and Dr. Kate’s books, and the books of other practitioners at her clinic, have been closed almost permanently since 2020.

In her practice, Kate has encountered hundreds of struggling parents, desperate for support: children struggling with school refusal, behavioural and mental health issues, and lack of accommodations; their families experiencing exhaustion, overwhelm, and isolation. As the parent of two now-grown twice-exceptional children, Kate knows the experience too well.

My Neurodivergent Child is an attempt to offer these families the support and connection they need. It offers an online community with benefits such as:

  • Curated and moderated forums that connect parents with others like them.

  • A separate, heavily moderated community for gifted and twice-exceptional children to meet like-minded peers.

  • A growing library, added to monthly, of unique, high-quality resources and reading lists on topics like emotional regulation, executive function, perfectionism, advocacy, extension and acceleration, etc.!

  • Access to professional advice via Q&A forum and monthly group Zoom session.

My Neurodivergent Child hopes to foster a community of parents to gifted and twice-exceptional children, supporting you from the comfort of home and walking alongside you as you navigate understanding, communicating with, and advocating for your child with confidence.
